Abstract
The electrical resistivity and the magnetic susceptibility have been measured for the series of intermetallic compounds CeNiGe2-xSi x. CeNiGe2 is an antiferromagnetic compound with T N = 3.3 K. CeNiSi2 is an intermediate-valence compound with cerium valence varying from 3.4 at room temperature to 3.75 at 1.8 K. With increasing x, the coupling constant J is enhanced and thus the Kondo temperature TK increases.
