Abstract
A hierarchically structured communications system was developed using sequentially synchronized chaotic systems. Sequential synchronization was achieved by first feeding a noiselike signal to a variable of the first transmitter and its receiver simultaneously. Subsequently, a variable of the first transmitter and its receiver was fed to a variable of the second transmitter and its receiver, and continued in sequence. The hierarchical structure enabled the selective protection of information due to the sequential property.
