Abstract
The goal of recovery management in database systems is to maintain database consistency when errors and failures occur. Database reconstruction is a technique to achieve consistency when a failure damages the contents of the database. A new scheme for the reconstruction of a database in distributed environments is proposed. The correctness of the scheme is proved, and the performance characteristics of the scheme are analyzed using a probabilistic model of transaction processing.
