Abstract

Phase synchronization (PS) transition in a system of two coupled self sustained hyperchaotic Rossler oscillators (HRO) was done. The phase difference between the two oscillators shows apparently jumps near the onset of PS transition. The behavior was a stochastic hopping of an overdamped particle in a potential which had periodic minima. The behavior was characterized as type-II intermittency with external noise through the return map analysis and Fokker-Planck approach.
