Abstract

The existence of an oscillation of magnetic anisotropy with varied Cr sublayer thickness along direction normal to easy axis in Fe/Cr/Fe trilayers was investigated. The easy axis in Fe/Cr/Fe trilayers was induced along certain direction in film plane by using external field during film deposition. An oscillatory behavior with period of 5 to 6 Å Cr sublayer thickness was exhibited by squareness of hysteresis loop measured along direction transverse to easy axis. The results show that that domain configuration oscillated between simple 180° type and complex non-180° type with varying Cr thickness.
