Optical-pumping magnetic resonances in helium atoms for magnetometry

Abstract

Optical-pumping magnetic-resonance experiments were conducted on 3He and 4He samples to measure the performance of a magnetometer through the determination of the gyromagnetic ratio of the electron in the metastable state of 4He in terms of that in ground state of 3He nucleus. The low-field capability was examined for the 4He resonance, and its resolution was 5 pT.
