Abstract

Reflectivity spectra of single crystals of LaSb, CeSb, PrSb and SmSb were measured in the photon energy range from 0.001 to 20 eV. All the spectra show absorptions due to the p-d transitions which screen the p-d bonding state and the p-d antibonding state at around 6 and 12 eV, respectively. The additional absorption was found at around 1 eV and its intensity is proportional to the number of occupied 4f electrons.
