Abstract
Databases are now considered as an integral part of computers. However at present, there are a number of misconceptions about the real-time aspects of databases. A careful definition of real-time databases will not only help dispel such misconceptions but will also encourage research efforts similar to those that have addressed real-time systems over this past decade.
