Abstract

The magnetic stability of two different exchange coupled systems, Fe/Cr double superlattices and Sm-Co/Fe bilayers, was studied. The stability was determined using the magneto-optic Kerr effect during the reversals of soft layer magnetization by field cycling. For Fe/Cr systems, rapid initial decay of the exchange bias field was observed. For Sm-Co/Fe bilayers, strong initial decay was also observed.
