Abstract
We report results for the magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, and electrical resistivity of CeCoGe2, which shows a heavy-fermion-like behavior with the Kondo temperature scale TK250K. The Ce ion in this compound turns out to be in the normal trivalent state, compared with valence fluctuation in the previous study for a nonstoichiometric sample of CeCo0.89Ge2. The presented results of CeCoGe2 are well interpreted by the Coqblin-Schrieffer model with j=5/2 ground state for heavy-fermion Kondo systems.
