Abstract
The exchange coupling behavior of the epitaxial Nd-Co(11̄00)/Sm-Co exchange-spring bilayers was analyzed. The magnitude of the exchange field Hex was found to increase when temperature was increased from 300 to 350 K, which was due to the temperature dependent magnetic anisotropy of the Nd-Co layer. The results show that the maximum size of the soft phase for the effective exchange-spring coupling can be enhanced by tailoring the magnetic anisotropy of the soft phase.
