Abstract

Most of light emitted from organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) is trapped into ITO/organic layers as waveguide modes. Although many studies have used wavelength-scale periodic gratings to solve this problem, these are efficient only at a specific wavelength and for certain angles, satisfying the Bragg condition. Here, we demonstrate that a quasi-periodic buckling structure with broad distribution and directional randomness can enhance the outcoupling efficiency without introducing spectrum changes and particular directionality.
