Abstract
The ribbons were annealed in air in a field of 3 Oe for 8 h at a temperature of 653 K; the microstructure distribution was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Crystalline grains of 10 nm were observed near the surface of annealed ribbons. After removal of a surface layer of up to 1 μm thick, the ribbons reveal only an amorphous phase. Also, the ribbons were partially etched with a hydrofluoric acid solution in order to investigate magnetic properties. The asymmetric GMI profiles transform into a typical symmetric GMI profile of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy after 1-μm surface etching. In this work, we will discuss the depth dependence of the microstructure and magnetic properties in surface-crystallized Co 66Fe4Si15B15 amorphous ribbons in terms of domain image observed by MFM and GMI profiles.
