Abstract

Cooperative-Intelligent transportation system (C-ITS) based on vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication can improve traffic flow, road safety, and even enable autonomous driving. In this paper, we analyze the effect of a path rerouting algorithm based on V2X communication for traffic flow improvement. To this end, we carry out an integrated simulation of SUMO, Veins, and OMNeT++. The 2 × 2 Manhattan grid mobility map and WAVE standard are adopted for simulation. An average speed, an average driving time, and an average waiting time are used as indexes for evaluating traffic flow. Our results show that a vehicle path rerouting algorithm based on V2X communication can improve the traffic flow.
